The 2025 rainy season was among the most severe in recent years across West and Central Africa. Flooding affected 2.4 million people in 17 countries, resulting in 783 deaths, more than 3,300 injuries, and the displacement of 394,000 people. Essential infrastructure, including schools and health facilities, suffered significant damage, while 85,000 hectares of agricultural land were flooded. The report highlights the urgent need to strengthen disaster prevention, community preparedness, and climate resilience to reduce the growing impact of climate-related hazards.
